The AEGIS (pronounced EE-jis) ZÆRO (pronounced ZEE-ro) is the first frame ever designed specifically for the long course triathlete and time trialist. 35 years of carbon fiber and 20 years of carbon frame experience has gone into this 20th Anniversary masterpiece. The result is the most comfortable, durable, powerful and fastest long-course triathlon frame on the planet.
Biomechanically designed , the AEGIS ZÆRO gives the triathlete that elusive edge needed on the run. The ZÆRO balances the rider better over the frame thus creating a greater hip angle to maximize the use of all muscle groups. The AEGIS ZÆRO rider is more relaxed and has increased oxygen-carbon dioxide exchange while riding resulting in less fatigue (better efficiency) and more gas left in the tank for the run. The ZÆRO allows you to climb hills while in the aero position on the rolling courses and is stable on the flats and descents. The AEGIS ZÆRO, above all, is more comfortable and durable than any frame made of any material. Finally, like all AEGIS frames, the AEGIS ZÆRO is designed, tested and made to last right here in Maine, USA.
Using the Oval Concepts A900 TT fork the front brake caliper is cleanly mounted behind the fork blades for improved aerodynamics.
All cable routing on the ZAERO is internally routed using our proprietary compression free channels to ensure ease of cable line assembly and adjustment. (please note that all cable routing on the newest version of the ZAERO enter the frame directly behind the headset)
In conjunction with the front brake, the rear brake caliper is also internally mounted on the inside of the rear seat stay. This aerodynamically conscious design places the brake inside the already turbulent air pattern of the rider's legs and removes it from creating drag on the rear of the bike.
Flared seat stays add stiffness and aerodynamics to the rear end of the ZAERO
Technical Features:
- 80 degree seat tube angle - 71 degree head tube angle - 39 cm chain stays to give quicker acceleration and to balance the overall wheelbase - Bottom Bracket height lowered to decrease the rider's center of gravity and increase handling characteristics
